The American Subcontractors Association of Wisconsin (ASA-WI) presented the association's awards for General Contractor of the Year, Architect of the Year, Superintendent of the Year, and Project Manager of the Year at the association's Annual Recognition Dinner to be held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Wisconsin Club (Milwaukee, WI).

ASA Supports Payment Assurances for Custom Pre-Fabricators in California Appeal

ASA and ASA of the Carolinas' Legal Victory on Lien Rights in North Carolina: What It Means for Subcontractors

In this podcast, attorney Eric Biesecker of Nexsen Pruet, Greensboro, N.C., explains a July 2011 North Carolina Court of Appeals decision that helped preserve the value of subcontractors' mechanic’s liens in the state. ASA and ASA of the Carolinas filed a "friends of the court" brief in the case, Wachovia Bank National Association and Preserve Holdings, LLC., v Superior Construction Corporation. ASA tapped its Subcontractors Legal Defense Fund to pay the fees associated with its filing in this case.

ConsensusDOCS 2011: New and Updated

On Jan. 19, 2011, the ConsensusDOCS coalition, of which ASA is a charter member, released the first major revisions to its standard 750 subcontract agreement and 751 short-form subcontract agreement since the documents were originally published in 2007. ConsensusDOCS also released revisions to its prime contractor design-bid-build, design-build, and CM-at-risk documents, as well as revised qualification documents for subcontractors and constructors and two new documents. This podcast provides an overview of the changes.

Looking for a way to get more out of your ASA of Wisconsin membership?  Join one of our many committees!

Business Practices Interchange (BPI)

Oversees the Business Practices Interchange (BPI) conducted at chapter meetings.

Communications

Makes recommendations to board of directors on use of media and other ideas for building ASA of Wisconsin awareness.  Develops plan for the format, content, advertising and distribution of the annual member & trade directory and the chapter newsletter and Web site.

Education/Programs

Develops schedule of chapter programs, workshops and special events.  Provides direction for determining program topics and presenters.

Events

Plans annual golf outing, sporting clays event, and annual recognition dinner.   Coordinates solicitation and recognition of event and presenting sponsors.

Finance

Makes recommendations to board of directors for annual financial budget.  Reviews and makes recommendations on dues, non-dues funding ideas, and other financial matters, as appropriate. 

Government Relations

Reviews issues and makes recommendations to board of directors on legislative initiatives.  Helps organize and implement campaign to inform public officials and industry groups.

Membership

Develops plan for member retention and recruitment of new members.  Works with board of directors and staff for implementing membership campaigns and the prospective member breakfast.
