The American Subcontractors Association of Wisconsin (ASA-WI) announced today that awards were given to its Architect of the Year, General Contractor of the Year, Superintendent of the Year, and Project Manager of the Year. The awards, which are the result of a nomination and balloting process among members of ASA-WI, were presented at the ASA-WI's Annual Recognition Dinner held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Wisconsin Club (Milwaukee, WI).
General Contractor of the Year was presented to Boldt Construction (Appleton, WI). This is the third time the firm has received this award. The firm was recognized based on its smooth, efficient and well-coordinated jobs, the use of fair contracts in its agreements with its subcontractors, its record for prompt progress and final payments, its effective management practices, and its cooperativeness in dealing with necessary change orders.
Architect of the Year was presented to Eppstein Uhen Architects (Milwaukee, WI), the eleventh time the firm has been so honored and the fourth year in a row. One of the most successful architectural firms in Wisconsin, Eppstein Uhen Architects was recognized because of the quality of the firm's designs, its cooperation with technical problems, and its fair and open-minded ways in interpreting, explaining, and/or amending drawings and specifications when necessary.
Superintendent of the Year was presented to Thomas Bauer of Briohn Construction (Waukesha, WI). This is the first time he has received this award. In describing his work, ASA-WI members noted that Thomas was knowledgeable, good to work with, calm under pressure, and someone whose schedules are reasonable and accurate, leading to greater jobsite efficiency and productivity.
Project Manager of the Year was presented to Amanda Schauer of VJS Construction Services (Pewaukee, WI). This is the first time she has received this award. In describing her work, ASA-WI members described Amanda as being fair, responsive, detailed and organized. She was also credited for the value she places on subcontractors and the relationship between the GC and sub.

Lucas served two terms on the Board of Directors, two terms as president, and served for a term on the national association Board of Directors. Throughout, Lucas was a strong supporter of subcontractor rights. Lucas was unable to attend, but will receive her award at the Association's Annual Meeting on May 25.
